Deep Pencil - the musings of Morgan Bell

If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it did it really make a sound? If i post a blog and nobody reads it was there really any point? You have entered the random thinking space of Morgan Bell . . . These are my musings . . . things about my life written off the top of my head . . . written in an informal disjointed style almost completely devoid of punctuation, this is where i flesh out writing ideas, discuss my life, and generally be self indulgent . . . it is also the bargain bin for articles which do not fit in with the film or arts themes of my other blogs . . . so have a wander around my mind, have a laugh, have a think, be nice, and humour me!

Apple Tree by Morgan Bell (created in MS Paint)

Robert Frost - After Apple Picking

My long two-pointed ladder's sticking through a tree
Toward heaven still,
And there's a barrel that I didn't fill
Beside it, and there may be two or three
Apples I didn't pick upon some bough.
But I am done with apple-picking now.
Essence of winter sleep is on the night,
The scent of apples: I am drowsing off.
I cannot rub the strangeness from my sight
I got from looking through a pane of glass
I skimmed this morning from the drinking trough
And held against the world of hoary grass.
It melted, and I let it fall and break.
But I was well
Upon my way to sleep before it fell,
And I could tell
What form my dreaming was about to take.
Magnified apples appear and disappear,
Stem end and blossom end,
And every fleck of russet showing clear.
My instep arch not only keeps the ache,
It keeps the pressure of a ladder-round.
I feel the ladder sway as the boughs bend.
And I keep hearing from the cellar bin
The rumbling sound
Of load on load of apples coming in.
For I have had too much
Of apple-picking: I am overtired
Of the great harvest I myself desired.
There were ten thousand thousand fruit to touch,
Cherish in hand, lift down, and not let fall.
For all
That struck the earth,
No matter if not bruised or spiked with stubble,
Went surely to the cider-apple heap
As of no worth.
One can see what will trouble
This sleep of mine, whatever sleep it is.
Were he not gone,
The woodchuck could say whether it's like his
Long sleep, as I describe its coming on,
Or just some human sleep.

oh dont mind me i just wanted to see what it felt like to cut-and-paste one of my favourite poems with no real explaination AND share the MS Paint Art it inspired me to create . . . theres no need to worry, im not going to start doing it every single day, infact the novelty has kind of worn off already . . .

Oh my! I just love how the difficulty of using MS Paint takes us back to our 5 years-old selves who tries to draw houses, trees, mama and dad recklessly on paper. At least you could come up with a very Tim Burtonish tree, Morgan..

Fanfaboulastastic! (and the innovative adjectives continue)

hi Ayda,
Tim Burtonish! what a fantastic compliment! that man is a genius!
i really wasnt willing to invest a huge amount of time rendering geometric shapes with the most annoying design program ever invented (give me AutoCAD any day haha) but im very pleased you thought it was "fanfaboulastastic" and will try to work that new word into my every day life!

hi Michaelie
you like?
i think i should devote it to you!
dont even think of stealing this idea, i think combining the two elements is the key, if i did this every single day i could make it BIG!

I can see myself as a devotee... lol.

Yes, yes, the cutting and pasting is nothing without the squiggles. They complement each other perfectly. But don't forget you are here to make MONEY you want MONEY show you the MONEY goddamnit! You'll have to do this at least twenty times a day.

I would steal this idea, but I am far too busy being a very serious blogger.

haha Michaelie
squiggles!
ill have you know it took me at least 15 minutes to create this post! who would bother being a serious blogger when you can churn these little gems out in a mindless blog factory? hahaha
if you had a gimmick like this mabe someone would want to marry you!

I'm sure with practice you will be able to churn them out at a faster rate. Then you can work out the variables in order to increase profits.

Yes, alas. Maybe it's not too late, maybe I can yet find salvation and become a respectable housewife. I need to go and find my chastity, pronto.

-start sarcasm-

Yeah write for the audience, girl. Let the clicks come. I mean look at me, I'll be writing a song fit for memorial weekend today. It's called Don't Forget Memory by Dream. It's in japanese but anyway.

Tomorrow is fish & chips day of Duwauwa so it is Serpent of Dreams from Hot Tuna.

Yeah I'm lickspittle like that.

-end sarcasm-

Michaelie,
there is no salvation for anyone on "the list" haha

Ayda,
i love the word "lickpittle" . . . you have the most colourful vocab!

maybe i should scrap the serious novel im writing and focus some mills and boon type stuff . . . no hang on, i should just get a mills and boon someone else has written and post a paragraph out of it every hour on my blog!

I think that list IS my salvation.

Mills and Boon have all the answers.

It's Harlequin Intrigue, for me... It's like ask a question, grab the nearest Harlequin and open a random page.

"What's the meaning of life anyway?"

-random page pick-

..."You've got trouble" ...

See?

Morgan was this art work medicinally inspired?
It looks rather trippy?
Never read the poem before - it's beautiful!!

ruby and troy,
i dont know what you are trying to imply . . . youre just jealous of my talents

jason,
this really is one of my favourite poems, all about how our expectations lead to our disappointments in life
"medicinally inspired"? haha i dont know what youre trying to imply either lol

ayda and michaelie,
i watched a movie recently where a family made all their decisions by randomly picking a word out of the bible, perhaps i should start doing that with a mills and boon?
