Deep Pencil - the musings of Morgan Bell

If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it did it really make a sound? If i post a blog and nobody reads it was there really any point? You have entered the random thinking space of Morgan Bell . . . These are my musings . . . things about my life written off the top of my head . . . written in an informal disjointed style almost completely devoid of punctuation, this is where i flesh out writing ideas, discuss my life, and generally be self indulgent . . . it is also the bargain bin for articles which do not fit in with the film or arts themes of my other blogs . . . so have a wander around my mind, have a laugh, have a think, be nice, and humour me!

Come back to my room . . .

June 23rd 2009 02:58
I have been inspired by Natalina to take a few snaps of random things from my room.

To see Natalina's house CLICKHERE.

I moved in with friends somewhere around the murky borderlands of southern Newcastle and the upper Central Coast (yeah i still call it Sydney, but I think anywhere 90 minutes by car away from Oxford St can be classified as the city) and my friends are in the process of renovating.

Hence I am still living out of a packed bag and my car, with the bulk of my belongings stored in boxes in the garage.

However I can still show you my day to day stuff.

I cannot take credit for any decor or colour schemes in the background, but I am responsible for the mountains of clutter in my guest quarters.

These are my everyday shoes. I got them from Rivers for $30 on sale. They remind me of something a genie would wear. Last time I got a pedicure the lady that served me was from China and she remarked that they were very similar to the colourful styles that are popular in China.

Next to the shoes is my heat-pack for my back. Its filled with wheat and you microwave it for a couple of minutes and apply it to the area in pain to sooth it. An ex-housemate gave it to me when I lived in the city of Newcastle some years ago.

This is the most recent pair of shoes I've bought. They are the first pair of high heeled shoes I have worn in over two years. They make me look 7 foot tall.

My housemate HATES them . . . which is a big part of the reason I bought them, I just wanted to see his face because I knew he would consider them to be ugly. When I saw them I thought "he will hate them", but I liked the colour and the the general idea of a slit-front bootie, and I knew it would go down a treat at the local gay bar. Are they the boots Gwenyth Paltrow wore in that film? No they are $40 from Target

Here is two items I cannot live without. My mobile phone and my hair straightener. I bought both of them before I left Sydney. The phone has gone to shit, everything on it is broken, and because it is a Nokia it has absolutely no battery life. It will randomly switch itself of mid conversation. It really needs replacing.

The GHD will probably outlive me. I wish GHD made mobile phones.

bag

This is my Guess handbag. It is huge. I have spilled many drinks over and in that bag. It has a leopard-print lining. I want to keep that bag forever, but sadly, due to my mistreatment, it is wearing in places.

keys

These are my keys. There's a bottle opener, a keyring from where I had my labret pierced saying "Let Me Put It In For You", a crab in a little red bottle from Vanuatu, a diamante "M" (both gifts from a friend), and the green key is quite special to me as it opens the front door of a friends house who gave me an open invite to stay at a time when I was homesick for Newcastle.

Clockwise from left we have my handbag, a few DVDs including Broken Flowers, Dangerous Liaisons, Torch Song Trilogy, and a Jackie Chan box-set, some of my books (the ones that arent in storage), my pink make-up bag, medications, notebooks, and perfumes.

A friend of mine works for Perfume Connection so I have acquired many fragrances on the cheap. I also used to be an Avon lady so I have a couple of Avon perfumes that I love.

I have quite few books on writing (see HERE and HERE) and a selection of fiction I have discussed in a post before (see HERE). A few others include a Rupert Everett autobiography, books by Isaac Asimov and Erica Jong, plus Alice In Wonderland, The Devil Wears Prada, Prozac Nation, Valley Of The Dolls, The Orchid Thief, and He Died With A Felafel In His Hand.

So that ends the tour of my room. Thanks for joining me.

I want to break into your house and steal your shoes.

A crab in a bottle? I want to see a better picture of that!

Do I spy a little J-Lo Glo???

I just finished reading Valley of the Dolls. Have you seen pictures of Rupert Everett recently? It's so disturbing because he's had so much plastic surgery he's almost unrecognizable. I still love him. But he looks BAD!

He Died With A Felafel in His Hand... that has to be the funniest thing I've read bits of in days... so this is what Hell looks like? ...one day, I'm sure, we'll be in the same room together... probably a cold day in... Melbourne... your housemate sounds like a bit of a bitch... probably sucks on undies... when in Rome... all roads lead... out... of... Rome...

hi Jason,

i do the crazy high-heeled shoes at gay clubs because i can blend with the other dragqueens and trannies . . . my all time favourite venue is The Taxi Club in Syd, but the shoes pictured have only been out at The Gateway Hotel in Newcastle so far

i do love the chemist, i actually have a specific drug bag with a much larger variety in it, those are just the day to day pharmaceuticals

and yes that is your Poppy Z Brite in the stack there, i am taking very good care of it

i watched a YouTube the other day by a Poppy Z Brite fan, you might be interested:

I just posted the following comment to Damo regarding the Nevar account removal situation, I'm just reposting it here in anticipation of it getting deleted . . . enjoy the drama!

Damo, i think the radiation from your career in front of the computer screen has affected your mind and your memory

Alt_Ed and Lady Henrietta Muddling (David) had their accounts removed the same day

David then came back as Mistersmith, Mrs Smith, MrandMrsAbnormal, and now Jimmy, he also writes anonymous comments as Lazarus and maintains the account of Ann1, this is all in addition to Samaritan and yourself publishing the vile homophobia of his "Notes From The Underground" under the guise of being some kind of champions of FREE SPEECH

i know you know all this because you always address him and are eager to spread his messages of hate

Alt_Ed leaves the occasional anonymous comment but Jon has never reinstated his account

noone has protested for the return of Alt_Ed, yet you have made it your personal mission to facilitate David in his mission to vilify homosexuals on this site and lobby for his return

im sure you would be the last person Jon would turn to for advice on how to run his site fairly, as you continually mock the existing grievance procedures and never contribute anything other than fanning flame wars and baiting people

Jon is running a private business, not a community service catering to the whims of you and your buddies in your attempts to bully queer people

if David and Larry want to run around being obscene and abusing and threatening the owner of the site, is it really that surprising their accounts have been removed time and time again?

Nevar (Larry) used to post to Orble as Raven, as you well know, and due to a history of disputes with Admin created a new account with a new name, he knows the drill, yet for some reason can never learn from his mistakes

if you want to lodge a complaint on this site use the [Report] buttons, send an email to complaints@orble.com, or post to the Writers Forum

Jon removed the post, blog, and user profile that Larry complained about, that is the extent of his legal responsibility

how can you, with a straight face, claim that there have been no communications between Larry and Admin when you yourself have produced an email from Charles to Larry regarding the situation in question? is that not a communication?

Jon has given no false information, he has explained the reasons for Larry's removal in plain language, you are just having difficulty understanding because you are mourning the loss of your homophobes anonymous boys-club

if you have a complaint, Damo, use the avenues that have been provided for you by Admin, dont stamp your feet with anti-Orble posts on the homepage or threaten legal action, its pretty simple

you wonder why all you guys are getting "purged", if you opened your eyes for a second you would see that with your own behaviour you are "purging" yourselves

Hey, just before I head over to Nat's house - thanks for inviting us into yours.

It's nice to know that most (I say most) people have their best visitors manners on when they come a callin'

I love the fact you have a Jackie Chan boxed set . . . you'd go a long way to beat that.

It's a very cool insight into each of our lives - hope you and Nat don't mind if I steal the concept real soon.

Stay well

this is Damo's response:

I have just deleted Morgan Bells unwelcome post.

It has also been email to a particular destination as a permanent record.

If Ed or Morgan want to play like children then it will not be here. This kind of harassment is typical of both of them.

Morgan should appreciate the irony of being deleted from my post since she also deletes others from her posts.

No matter how many times she posts here I will delete her comments.

i guess the whole FREE SPEECH rhetoric only applies to David

ill just respond to Damo's accusations here as he has requested for me not to send him any more comments

1) i have not left Damo a comment since THIS POST May 22nd, 2008 - so the claim of "harassment" is completely baseless and the man may have delusions of persecution

2) i have, however, allowed comments from Damo as recently as THIS POST April 14th, 2009 - i have never deleted any of Damo's comments even when he called me a bigot, a liar, and a hack

3) my blog is currently set to Verify due to David's continued and escalating bullying, i will no longer Verify any anonymous comments that serve only to abuse myself or my readers about gender or sexuality

4) in the past i have removed abusive comments from Nevar/Raven under advice from Admin at a time where he had been posting about me and using my display pic without my permission and directing increasing amounts of uncontrollable rage at me

5) i have also once removed a thread of comments between S.L. Bradish and Alt_Ed at the request of S.L. when their conversation deteriorated into personal attacks against each others family members

6) i wont approve hate speech against homosexuals, i think hate speech is outside the rights to FREE SPEECH - Damo has no qualms about publishing hate speech claiming he is interested in FREE SPEECH, however his idea of FREE SPEECH only extends to homophobic remarks and not the people who object to them, he routinely deletes comments that criticise him and his homophobic views

7) today i left Damo the first comment in over a year in an attempt to clarify misinformation he was spreading about Larry, David and Alt_Ed, my comment was removed - this is the first time Damo has ever declared that my comments are unwelcome on his blog - i will honour his wishes and not comment him again, but i will say what i have to say on my own posts

Hello Morgan Bell,

I am glad to find this post as Damo has also been deleting my comments, he said "I consider his continued attention as harassment."

Now I personally do not think any of my comments could be considered harassment, simply on the grounds that I had left more than one; after all, I was only addressing the comments and accusations Damo and others were launching at me. Am I not entitled to defend myself?

I hope you don't mind, but I am going to repost the comments Damo has deleted off his post here on yours.

Comment 1 When Jon deleted me, along with Lady Henrietta Muddling (Potter in a Harry), I simply sent them an email and asked for all my posts to be removed. This was made possible by the fact that I had emailed them some time before asking to retain the copyright of my posts - as is standard policy if you read Orble's T's & C's.

Charles emailed in reply and advised that my request would be actioned within 48hrs. Low and behold, 48hrs later the posts were removed and I was very much satisfied with Orbles service.

I do not feel a need to whine or harp on about being deleted as I am able to reflect back on what was and accept that I was out of line on many occasions... It is sad that Lady Dave is unable to reflect back on his own actions with as much clarity.

Furthermore, I would like to see what this "racist slur" was regarding Nevar's wife... was it as bad as this:

I also hope they dump that miserable "quasi religion" as soon as they have a chance.
- one blogger expressing her opinion of Islam.

Or what about this bloggers thoughts on Transgender issues -
I have always been skeptical when I hear people claim that they were a woman born in a man’s body or a man born in a woman’s body. However for some people this is not even worthy of discussion, the matter is settled because they have the power to enforce what they believe. It is worth noting that the term Transgender may have slipped into our common day language without so much as debate about its merits. Yet this is typical of the postmodernist mindset that seems to wallow in absurd minority causes and self declared inalienable rights.

Sure the second example may not be racist; but it sure as heck was meant to be offensive!

Comment 2 If you insist on making references to me in your posts/comments, I believe I am entitled to the right to respond... that is, I would appreciate this comment being left to stand as testament to my unconditional denial of the accusations you have made against me.

I am not going to debate David's expulsion because you allowed Al_Ed to stay under the guise of Mau_Medlin. David is deleted but Mau is left untouched. This has to be the greatest episode of selective blindness in history. You never even bothered to investigate who was hijacking David's Identity did you?

I am not Alt_ed, and I have made this clear to you on several occasions. I would encourage Jon to investigate this, as you suggested, by tracking my IP.

And for the record, I have it on good authority that David has been active on this site under the Mr Smith, Jimmy & Mr&Mrs Abnormal user names, as well as "Notes from the underground" and "Lazarus" - comments that you have posted, along with other David supporters and sympathisers!

On a more personal note, since joining the Orble network I have felt personally victimised, vilified, and insulted by many of your posts, comments and accusations. Not once have I complained to Jon however, as I believe in Free Speech; I do not want to silence those who I simply do not agree with - no matter how inane or bigoted I find a particular persons point of view.

Mau-Medellin

Comment 3 I have addressed you in a polite and amicable fashion on this post, and you have insisted on maintaining your childlike attitude.

Perhaps I will follow in Nevar's footsteps and take legal action, not against Jon and Orble though - against you and your slanderous remarks!

I am deeply saddened that you have taken such a disliking to me, especially considering the limited contact we have had. I can only assume that this hatred stems from a deep-seated, bigoted, and baseless view you hold against the queer community.

Surely with your experience in the IT world, working in cooperation with the TIO, you have learned that this sort of behaviour is pointless and very unbecoming.

Mau-Medellin

Comment 4 On the post in question you were extremely hostile towards me and refused to address any of the valid points I raised. In the heat of the moment my emotions took over; I have never denied being human.

I have found almost all of the emailed notes you have published to be insulting, and am astonished that you would support what is little more than 'hate-speech' on David's part.

Furthermore, if you have been offended by a comment made on another writers blog, you should feel welcome to address your concerns with either myself, or the blog owner. I am positive that Morgan would use her sound judgement skills wisely, and provided you with an opportunity to air your view; if you put a valid argument forth, I am also positive that she would remove the comment in question. Morgan would never leave anything on her blog that was in anyway offensive or threatening towards a fellow blogger - even though you have failed in your duty of care to others when placed in the same situation.

I rather valued your fresh views and ideas, however, recent events have evidenced that my initial observations were incorrect.

Many of my immediate, and extended family members are practising Christians of varying degrees - I am much loved by them all, as they are much loved by me.

I am not anti-religion Samaritan, nor am I a xenophobe, racist, homophobe, or misogynist. As such, I will always stand up for the rights of minorities to live freely, where they are causing no harm to others. You are aware that Australia is a Liberal Democracy, not a True Democracy... I suggest you study the definition of what a Liberal Democracy is before you respond.

Mau-Medellin

Thank you for your time Morgan,

Mau-Medellin

hi Mau,

yes Damo is on a deletion spree

in the interests of FREE SPEECH? what a crock of kippers

here is a selection of comments Damo sees fit to publish in the "interests of free speech"

This person appears very confused. Not only about this person's own sexual identity but about what journalism is. This person seems to think if 100% of gays on Orble agree with this person, that makes this person's opinion right.

Shit must be good. How could a billion flies be wrong?

It had crossed my mind to create a blog where I teach asexuals about how to remain sterile.

My only worry was that I would come across as a complete hypocrite, and people would realise I had no experience with, and no knowledge of the non-orgasmic lifestyle.

God infuses souls into bodies. Man is incapable of creating a soul. To say that God infuses a male soul into a female body or a female soul into a male body is pure blasphemy.

I have heard that a family friendly site can also be a queer friendly site. That seems contradictory to me, when the gay community has established itself on the back of campaigns purposely designed to shock families (children included) into accepting their private lifestyles by public displays, such as the Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras in Sydney, where young children in public are exposed to images that a rational man would think would be banned from a family friendly site in order to protect children, or at least allow them a few years of sexual innocence. Apparently I must be a minority voice. But then, semantically speaking, I see the gay community campaigning for the protection of children on family friendly sites. Yet in the same breath promoting the Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras. It seems like two very contradictory stances to take. Do they actually want children to attend? That would be the question I would pose to them. Do you think it's appropriate for a child to witness the Mardi-Gras?

MyApologetics needs a new slogan: if its not homophobia i dont want to hear it

Mau,

Can you please tell me exactly where I was hostile in the Catholic adoption agency post? And what points you raised that I did not address? .

And in relation to the comments about me, I do not care if they are removed or not. If I had a huge problem with them, I would report them - which I did not do. I was simply pointing them out as an example of how you have insulted me.

Ooooh fancy! I like it, Morgan! This has been a fun exercise! Also loving the pic of Chris Cornell on the laptop.

My next post is going to feature pictures of the city where I live! Oh, and if you really want a laugh, check out the most recent post on Extraordinaryintelligence.com. It features pictures of strange large animals around my state, and there may or may not be a picture of me pretending to nurse from a giant cow! Now if that doesn't spark your interest, I don't know what will! LOL
