Deep Pencil - the musings of Morgan Bell

If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it did it really make a sound? If i post a blog and nobody reads it was there really any point? You have entered the random thinking space of Morgan Bell . . . These are my musings . . . things about my life written off the top of my head . . . written in an informal disjointed style almost completely devoid of punctuation, this is where i flesh out writing ideas, discuss my life, and generally be self indulgent . . . it is also the bargain bin for articles which do not fit in with the film or arts themes of my other blogs . . . so have a wander around my mind, have a laugh, have a think, be nice, and humour me!

chill, baby, chill . . .

here are some angry puppets that might bring back a few memories . . .

Agro is a cultural icon in Australia due to his long running kids afternoon TV show

Alf even had an interview with Bill O'Rielly:

My dad loves Alf. I was always partial too. I'll have a look-see.

Ah, that takes me back to when I used to watch Agro in the mornings, he was such a cool puppet! Dickie Knee was also very funny!

Alf is just a classic, I should go watch a re-run!

hi Norm,
some people have said it was the low point of BillOs career, but i think it was the high point!

hi Justicia,
Agro was such a naughty boy!
he often said the most outrageous things to his co-hosts!
actually Dickie Knee and Alf were pretty outrageous smart alecs too . . . i wonder if all puppets have to be antagonistic and sarcastic?
maybe it stems back to the ventriloquist days?
thanks for stopping by!

Definitely one of Bill's more insightful interviews.

As for Agro. Oh my. Did we watch that? Did we enjoy it?

we did Ruby, we did . . . anybody reading this knows that if i say i enjoyed it i clearly mean that Ruby enjoyed it, or perhaps i just enjoyed it on her behalf!

im glad you enjoyed Bill!
when i see how obsessed i am with watching Bill O'Rielly i can suddenly understand why serial killers have so many marriage offers from beautiful young women . . .

Hey Morgan, the Hey Hey its Satruday years were some of the best of my life.

Thanks for the warmest of memories of great nights in with good friends watching this absolute nonsense unfold each week, to the uproar and hilarity of that time ...

hi Lilla,
oh i so glad you enjoyed my little walk down memory lane!
i absolutely adore Daryl Somers from the years of watching Hey Hey Its Saturday in my childhood . . . some people get annoyed by his bumbling, but i find it really endearing and think hes a warm spirit!
Dickie Knee provided some of the best comic relief!

hi Paul,
they really were a staple in our TV diets hey
i think many Aussie kids formed their sense of humour on these types of characters!
thanks for the comment!

I liked Blackboard in Mr Squiggle. He was always telling everyone to hurry up. He wasn't grumpy, just very impatient and pushy so people considered him rude.

I also like Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street. I always wondered why he was on the show as he didn't seem like a very good role model for children.
