Deep Pencil - the musings of Morgan Bell

If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it did it really make a sound? If i post a blog and nobody reads it was there really any point? You have entered the random thinking space of Morgan Bell . . . These are my musings . . . things about my life written off the top of my head . . . written in an informal disjointed style almost completely devoid of punctuation, this is where i flesh out writing ideas, discuss my life, and generally be self indulgent . . . it is also the bargain bin for articles which do not fit in with the film or arts themes of my other blogs . . . so have a wander around my mind, have a laugh, have a think, be nice, and humour me!

You go revolutionary!

But I am quite stupid on matters of US healthcare - I know it's appalling due to a young friend of mine who contracted HIV.

What is the public option and what does it mean?

Damn...didn't get in on this one, didn't hear about it in time...still dropped the bastards an email, though...and Jason, the "public option" is actually just a marginal proposal to open up health care insurance to more Americans. It's not the full reform needed by any means...But it is still being fought incredibly hard..

hi Jason,

the Public Option would be a government run non-profit insurance agency that would offer policies to everyone . . . at the moment the private insurance corporations refuse to cover "high risk" people (which includes things like being overweight, underweight, suffering mental illness, or being the victim of domestic violence etc), and even the people they accept have huge difficulties qualifying for payments when they need it . . . the Public Option would give them a choice to insure with the government if they want to

hi Jeff,

im sure an email or phone call any time during the day would have helped get their attention

it was organised through The Young Turks who have a huge (near 100, 000) subscribership on YouTube

here is a clip of the in-person protest @ Los Angeles

hi Jason,

i would hate to have HIV in general, but to have HIV in the USA if you are low income would be a nightmare

i hope your friend continues to fight the disease until we find a cure
