Deep Pencil - the musings of Morgan Bell

If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it did it really make a sound? If i post a blog and nobody reads it was there really any point? You have entered the random thinking space of Morgan Bell . . . These are my musings . . . things about my life written off the top of my head . . . written in an informal disjointed style almost completely devoid of punctuation, this is where i flesh out writing ideas, discuss my life, and generally be self indulgent . . . it is also the bargain bin for articles which do not fit in with the film or arts themes of my other blogs . . . so have a wander around my mind, have a laugh, have a think, be nice, and humour me!

Gilligan's Island babe skins potato without peeler

March 31st 2009 16:20
Dawn Wells, aka Mary Ann Summers from Gilligan's Island, demonstrates a unique way to peel an Idaho potato . . . without the use of a potato peeler!

Dawn Wells was a former Miss Nevada when she auditioned for the role of Mary Ann in Gilligan's Island. The producers chose Dawn over Raquel Welch.

Dawn Wells is the founder of the Idaho Film and Television Institute, and organiser of Spud Fest, a regional annual family movie festival.

Zoinks! That's the goldarndest thing I ever did see. And timely, since I'm about to go and peel a bunch of taters!

hi Spike,
its pretty cool hey!
peeling potatoes is such an annoying time-consuming chore . . . but no longer!
Dawn seems to really like Idaho and her tatas!

It's better to leave the skins on. If you peel them, you're removing healthy fibre.

I love my insides, I leave the skins on! I'm a bit of a healthy food nut, about to become a Community Foodie. I'll have everybody on Orble fit and well, if I can!

How to amaze and delight kids . . . have I got a new party trick to impress now.

BTW - about 20 years ago I got to meet (no not Mary Ann) but the then Miss Idaho - not nearly a good looking as Dawn - and she certainly didn't share her intimate knowledge of spuds with me.

hi Carolyn,
im not supposed to eat potato at all, but i like your healthy thinking . . . everyone could do with a bit more fibre!
thanks for the tip!

hi MNG,
it is quite rare to have a beauty queen with and intimate knowledge of spuds!
i think the video is impressive both for the potato trick and because you get to see how an old tv star has aged!

I think you should do more posts like this. It sure beats reading the stuff you post when you try to write.

A very smart way to peel off the potato skin without the potato peeler, Morgan. By using this method, now I'll have more times to do other kitchen's stuffs!

Thanks for the video clip, it's very useful!

hi David,
could you and your sour grapes go find someone else to spam so relentlessly?
its getting old man, seriously
no wonder you have no readers when you are such an arsehole to everyone

hi Wilson,
it looks like a real time saver!
i wonder if any of the celebrity chefs use it?

hi Norm,
cruelty to potatoes!
Dawn Wells is like the Hannibal Lecter of vegetables!

Morgan, David obviously feels left out... perhaps you could post on premature ejaculation, erectile dysfunction, baldness or one of the myriad of men's health issues that he seems to suffer from.

Now, now children. If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all!
We'd all be in trouble then, wouldn't we? Nothing to read. Sheer hell.

hi Carolyn,

*points finger*
i think in the case of David, if he hates this blog so much maybe he should stick to demeaning women over on My Apologetics . . . i dont know why he feels so compelled to comment every single post of mine

Sam and I can become the 'fibre fans' and enrich everyone's life with exciting tales of sneaking psyllium husks into everything we serve to fibre poor friends.

Mmmmm psyllium husks!!!

I think some of the folk on Orble seem a little too anal - you know who I'm talking about - maybe next time I make high fibre muffins I'll send them one.

It will suit the role I'm taking on next month as a 'Community Foodie'. Read all about it here
