Deep Pencil - the musings of Morgan Bell

If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it did it really make a sound? If i post a blog and nobody reads it was there really any point? You have entered the random thinking space of Morgan Bell . . . These are my musings . . . things about my life written off the top of my head . . . written in an informal disjointed style almost completely devoid of punctuation, this is where i flesh out writing ideas, discuss my life, and generally be self indulgent . . . it is also the bargain bin for articles which do not fit in with the film or arts themes of my other blogs . . . so have a wander around my mind, have a laugh, have a think, be nice, and humour me!

give a yahoo a break!

i cant think of anything original to say so i thought i would cut and paste a funny interaction Ruby and i had in comments of another post recently . . .

first watch this video:

the original question:
What do you think? Is it risky to call someone not close to you by an endearment, not knowing how they might react? Or does it promote goodwill and bring people together?

Morgan says:
i actually find it really strange when friends use endearments towards me like honey, baby, darling, pumpkin, possum, sweetie etc . . . i dont find it offensive, i think its quite nice, just unexpected as i dont think of myself as a "cute" type of person, i think of myself as fairly serious . . . but i guess its a compliment that others feel comfortable around me

and then Morgan says:
theres plenty of things in the world that warrant getting offended over but i dont think Obama saying sweetie is one of them . . . he apologised, its obviously an automatic turn of phrase that he used by accident, geez give a n...... a break lol

Ruby says:
what I'd like to hear at an Obama press conference:
"I didn't mean to be a sexist when I called that cute little reporter chick sweetie. Suffering suffragettes, give a n***a a break!"

BAHAHAHAHAhahaha fun times!

You make a good point, Morgan. Obama does plenty of really offensive things that should require apologies. Picking on the use of "sweetie" to a reporter is nothing at all!

Really Long Link

If it still doesn't work, try going to Planck's Constant.com I just found out about it and it's a really great blog. The only problem is that it doesn't seem to allow comments.

Oh no. SL has discovered Planck's Constant....oh well..birds of a feather.

Planck's Constant for all you uninitiated has the dubious honour of being the writer of my first ever Crazy Conservative Quote of the Week!

is it me that should give yahoo a break?

actually, I deleted that post. It turns out that it got forward to management at Yahoo News in Australia...

Whaaaaat?!!! That's ridiculous. So it's not okay to criticise the media anymore?

Cibb, I told you on that post and I'll tell you again- everything you said on that post, you were well within your rights to do so. Did Yahoo contact you? Are they going to make a hit list of their "ten best friends on the internet"?

hahaha i think i missed something . . . whats going on?

Cibbuano,
were you criticising yahoo and got in trouble?

Ruby,
there is always time for a threatening "ten best friends on the internet" list . . . if Cibbuano was being sleazy or sarcastic he MUST be censored . . . this is communist China isnt is? lol

cibb wrote a post criticising yahoo7! for putting a story about Jack Black at Cannes on their home page whilst relegating the China earthquake to the same level as a local stabbing.

(He also criticised the Cathilic Church for their hypocritical attitude of donating money to people they are only condemning to hell anyway. It appears that there is a voice on orble that thought he was being unreasonable...not for picking on yahoo mind you... but for picking on the poor defenceless catholic church).

I wasn't aware the post has been deleted. Morgan, it looks like your nemesis isn't the only wanna be orble-cleaner upper. i guess sugar works better than vinegar huh?

ahh the poor defenceless catholic church . . . is the pope still considered the most powerful man in the world or did he lose his place to rupert murdoch?

shame the post was deleted, it sounded like an interesting read!
