Deep Pencil - the musings of Morgan Bell

If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it did it really make a sound? If i post a blog and nobody reads it was there really any point? You have entered the random thinking space of Morgan Bell . . . These are my musings . . . things about my life written off the top of my head . . . written in an informal disjointed style almost completely devoid of punctuation, this is where i flesh out writing ideas, discuss my life, and generally be self indulgent . . . it is also the bargain bin for articles which do not fit in with the film or arts themes of my other blogs . . . so have a wander around my mind, have a laugh, have a think, be nice, and humour me!

I just joined The Greens . . .

australian election greens member federal senate brown

This election I voted Green.

I am absolutely appalled at the stance Julia Gillard (closeted lesbian) and Penny Wong (open lesbian) made on gay marriage.

I've always loved Bob Brown and I appreciate him more and more as Labor and Liberal gradually grow indistinguishable from each other. With the major parties we have no options. It is literally the choice between a rock and a hard place.

Nearly 1.3 million people voted Green this election. They got 14% of the vote (up from 5% last election), 9 members in the Senate (up from 5 last election), and got their first member in the House, Adam Bandt in the Melbourne.

The Greens now have Senators in every State, a first for Victoria and QLD.

"From where I sit, that's a Greenslide." - Bob Brown

Top Ten Reasons To Vote Green

1. The Greens stand up for what’s right, not just what’s easy.
2. It’s the Party everyone’s heading to.
3. Break the deadlock in the Senate between the Government and the Opposition.
4. Provide future generations with clean air, clean water and a stable climate.
5. Make legislation better.
6. The Greens have vision.
7. An environmental party.
8. An environmental party and much, much more.
9. For a more powerful vote.
10. Bob Brown.

Can I add one more?

11. The Greens are the only party working to end all forms of legal discrimination against Australians based on sexuality.

"We believe the marriage act is appropriate in its current form, that is recognising that marriage is between a man and a woman" - Julia Gillard

"On the issue of marriage, I think the reality is there is a cultural, religious and historical view around that which we have to respect. ... The party's position is very clear and that is an institution between a man a woman.'' - Penny Wong

"I probably feel a bit threatened (by homosexuality), as so many people do. ... There is no doubt that challenges, if you like, orthodox notions of the right order of things." - Tony Abbott

I just signed up for a membership to The Greens and paid my dues.

They deserve it.

I'm with you Morgan, I voted Green in both of the houses - Go Bob, Go the Greens! With the Greens, you know exactly what they are standing for. With the two major parties you don't really know.

Julia Gillard (closeted lesbian)

Why the hell would you say something like that?
Julia Gillard and Labor are stupid and wrong to oppose gay marriage, but she still has the right to have her sexual identity respected.
If you want to do that kind of mean-spirited homophobic sniping, why don't you join the Liberal party?
