Deep Pencil - the musings of Morgan Bell

If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it did it really make a sound? If i post a blog and nobody reads it was there really any point? You have entered the random thinking space of Morgan Bell . . . These are my musings . . . things about my life written off the top of my head . . . written in an informal disjointed style almost completely devoid of punctuation, this is where i flesh out writing ideas, discuss my life, and generally be self indulgent . . . it is also the bargain bin for articles which do not fit in with the film or arts themes of my other blogs . . . so have a wander around my mind, have a laugh, have a think, be nice, and humour me!

iota becomes green with envy over display pic

July 5th 2008 10:47
i noticed a few people changing their display pics around lately so i decided it is time for a change myself . . . so theres two heads in my pic now, the smaller one being my furry muse iota deville . . . shes always in the limelight!

speaking of lime, i decided to keep with the lime background and greyscale face theme just for a bit of continuity . . .

sometimes when people change their pics i get a bit freaked out and think "who the hell is that???" haha . . . its like those people that have synaesthesia . . . i can only associated certain display pics with certain personalities, when the display pic is changed i feel out of balance for awhile, a little disoriented, a smidge out of kilter! haha

so green is the theme!

it aids with transitions and gives me a sense of tranquility!

a brief investigation of the colour GREEN:

The word green is closely related to the Old English verb growan, “to grow”. It is used to describe plants or the ocean. Sometimes it can also describe someone who is inexperienced, jealous, or sick. Culturally, green has broad and sometimes contradictory meanings. In some cultures, green symbolizes hope and growth, while in others, it is associated with death, sickness, envy or the devil.

William Shakespeare was the first to describe envy as the "green-eyed monster" in Othello and The Merchant of Venice.

In high schools in the United States during the 1960s, it was widely believed that if someone wore green on Thursdays, it meant that they were homosexual

The most common associations of the colour "green" are found in its ties to nature. By far the largest contributor to green in nature is chlorophyll, the chemical by which plants photosynthesize. Many creatures have adapted to their green environments by taking on a green hue themselves as camouflage. Green is also associated with regeneration, fertility and rebirth for its connections to nature.

Recent political groups have taken on the color as symbol of environmental protection and social justice. This has led to similar campaigns in advertising, as companies have sold green or environmentally friendly products.

Surrounding yourself with green can help you feel good as a natural living entity in a wonderful world in which you have a measure of control.

The human eye is most sensitive to greens. Humans see more shades of green than any other color. Greens represent life, like trees, grass, and plants, and give us a calm natural feeling.

I love the pic, it's sweet!

I had no idea that Thursdays were green gay days in the 60s! That's even weirder than the right earlobe left earlobe piercing thing.

I love green, it's so calm and always makes me thing of luscious lawns.

Why Morgan, how vewwwwy droll of you...

In answer;
well, not off the top of my head, the 80s were a bit of a blur, as were the 70s and some of the 90s...sigh.. anyhoo, I did have a fabulous book on gay culture at the turn of the century (1900) in New York, fascinating read, the word "trade", which today means a prostitute, in those days referred to straight guys who liked getting blow jobs from gays, usually on the water front wharves area... those were the days.. oh and gays were known as "inverts" officially.

maybe I'll "go green" for St.Pats Day next time, just for the day...tbe be sure to be sure...begorrah!

oh Fog once you go droll you never go back!
ooooo inverts!
thats an exciting name!
we use "trade" to mean unimportant hook-up, like the one night stand you dont bother getting the name of
i guess if you wear a green mesh singlet on a thursday with some yellow socks you must be really really gay!
