Deep Pencil - the musings of Morgan Bell

If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it did it really make a sound? If i post a blog and nobody reads it was there really any point? You have entered the random thinking space of Morgan Bell . . . These are my musings . . . things about my life written off the top of my head . . . written in an informal disjointed style almost completely devoid of punctuation, this is where i flesh out writing ideas, discuss my life, and generally be self indulgent . . . it is also the bargain bin for articles which do not fit in with the film or arts themes of my other blogs . . . so have a wander around my mind, have a laugh, have a think, be nice, and humour me!

thanks to the wonders of youtube i have stumbled across possibly the most engaging conversation i have ever seen . . . how can anyone not love Marilyn Manson *lovestruck sigh* every time i hear him speak i am impressed . . . hes quite possibly the smartest living person in the world today . . . smitten, so smitten . . .

im a little bit obsessed with Marilyn Manson, i think hes beautiful and and everything he creates is beautiful . . . i saw him in concert once and my heart nearly burst . . . i love his voice and his calm demeanor . . . im a parallel universe im sure we are married haha

I've never really been a Manson fan, but he is a very bright man who makes valid points towards his style and his music. Great clip.

Bill O'Reilly was rather subdued here...going soft in his old age?

I agree that Manson is extremely well-spoken and intelligent. Not his biggest fan either but I do respect him for that.

hahaha i thought that was funny too . . . i actually thought bill seemed a bit intimidated, like he was actually speaking to satan LOL
i think the fact that Manson would agree to the interview obviously shows he is concerned about the kids who are involved in these shootings etc

To be brutally honest - which I'd like to think we can all be here - I'd never taken the time to listen to the man being interviewed, and had formed my own superficial opinion based on his on stage persona.

Having listened to the interview, he does come across as not only measured and articulate but polished in the ways of cross examination with the media.

Thank you for what was an eye opener to me at least.

im so glad you got to see the softer side of Manson . . . hes a fan of brutal honesty himself . . . and while i admit his musical style isnt for everyone i think he is a highly intelligent person who never fails to say something eye-opening when interviewed!

MM is a genius and spaketh great truisms which the ugly dumb controlling beasts at the big end of town do not like to hear, especially the Vatican.

I nearly went and interviewed him about his art, his painting, but got cold feet just beforehand.. pity, as no one had done this, at that time, and there were many recording artists in particular, who were also accomplished painters.

oh well...

I remember watching this interview right after I saw the one where he was interviewed by David Letterman. It was a relief to not see him rise to O'Reilly's antagonism and so expel a lot of negative impressions. At least this issue was kept on topic and related to what Manson does as a professional rather than just being a segment to gawp at the oddity. This was especially true after having been made a mockery of by Letterman who wasn't interested in where Manson was coming from, but only on making fun of him and his private life, being very condescending all the while just because he wears a suit, enjoys sports and has rigid family values.

yes i saw that Letterman interview and i agree with your interpretation, "condescending" is the perfect word!
its a shame because if people actually bother to ask Manson sensible questions he gives the most enlightening well-constructed answers!
as Fog said, genius!
