On my radar . . .
June 11th 2009 01:39
Confidence is a must
Happiness is a plus
Edginess is a rush
Edges, I like them rough
Radar . . . got you on my . . .
Radar . . . got you on my . . .
Radar . . . got you on my . . .
Radar.
I got my eye on you . . . and I cant let you get away.
There actually is a point to this post, other than the musical stylings of Britney Spears and the fan-video direction of Leslie Diep.
A list of websites that have been on my radar.
Some new and exciting ways to entertain yourself on the net
1. Daily Booth
dailybooth.com
For people who like taking photos of themselves. Daily Booth is an online photo journal designed to document the appearance of the user over time in daily photos. Take a snap from your webcam or phone or digital camera and upload to the site each day. You can create a record of your life and how you feel by collating images of how you look. It's a quirky way of marking time, and a great incentive to practice your photography.
2. Blovel Spot

Blovels should be written in first person and stick to the three act structure. No editing allowed. The blovel is intended allow writers to jot down a first draft which can be used to structure a proper novel from.
3. Square Space

4. Blurb

Google has nothing on you.
I tried to register on blovelspot.com.
Just now.
Apparently my email address has too many characters.
That's a tough editorial process.

omg that happened to me too!
it said my hotmail address was too long so i had to use my gmail address which is a couple of characters shorter . . . i thought it was a very odd way of screening potential writers

Look we love where you're going with this, but could you make your email address shorter.
I've heard it all before.
I never write in the first person either.

you like a bit of rib, eh?
i dont know if they actually check whether youve written in first or third person, i think its more of a suggestion, i think its intended to facilitate you writing quickly, just put yourself in the characters head and go
its sposed to help you flesh out a plot
well help those people with short email addresses haha

blovel, I like the sound of it, but, what about copyright.. and I wonder how one protects ones work online anyway, as anyone can alter your idea and claim it as their own... dunno..
and you didn't ring me when in Katoomba...baiitcch!
cheers

i would have to check the fine print about copyright, i think one of the benefits to posting it online, as opposed to keeping it in a word document, is that you can get feedback from other writers as you write
Katoomba, oh well that didnt end up happening, Troy and i both got the flu and stayed in Newcastle on the weekend . . . its a shame, i was keen to lend my support to the Bent Art show and my friend Angela (one of her works was rejected because it depicted a dildo haha, the other one got in)
i promise i will ring you if i ever do get to the area

oh what a peeee ewwweh getting a cold, hope it wasn't swine like, then again you didn't go to Victoria, where it seems "mexicans" (Melburnians) are the carriers in our country! HA! Love having a swipe at them every now and again..
Yes, I agree the blovel concept is a good one, but, plagiarism is rife. but, it would be a good exercise to force one to write every day.
and what a load of nonsense, banning your pal's dildo picture! It really amazes me (dare I say it considering my facetious and sarcastic "mexican" remark!)) how backward Australia still is, they let that other idiot take photos of nude little girls and boys, eyt ban a dildo depiction!
Some of these morons should take a stroll through the corridors of classic Greek and Roam sculpture sometime, let alone the Indian, that entire temple devoted to sex and the penis...amazing.
cheers and if I get down to Taswegia, I'll let you know, it would be rather fun actually,

im am quite the googler . . . and very well networked!
youve got to keep your ear to the ground for these upcoming internet activity trends
hi Fog,
i live back in Sydney now (well if you consider the Central Coast/ Newcastle as a far outer suburb haha) so dont go looking for me in Tazzy anymore
funny how the Classical era was more progressive an open-minded than current society when it comes to appreciating the beauty of the human form (well if you consider a synthetic penis to be a far outer appendage of the human body
hi MNG,
i hear a few things here and there, store them in my memory files, and then one day a few pieces of useless info connect and snap into line like and electricity bolt
then TADA theres a whacky post on Deep Pencil for us all to read

ive been considering doing an online portfolio on SquareSpace, ill be keeping it in mind in future as i was very impressed with the other pages people had created on there
and i like the general idea of Blovel, you could probably do the same sort of thing on any blogging network, but i think the real advantage of going there would be to be in a community of other creative writers and get feedback on technique specific to fiction
its always interesting to have squiz at other sites even if you dont intend to use them
thanks for the comment

Morgan, Jorge is running a 'lightweight' site. There is no real substance or protection for writers.
This site comes up with a very low level of security through WOT. I didn't bother to run it through Alexa and the others.
But really...
1/10 for trying, Jorge.
Daily Booth is marginally better and comes in with a 4/10
Checking out the rest soon
