Deep Pencil - the musings of Morgan Bell

If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it did it really make a sound? If i post a blog and nobody reads it was there really any point? You have entered the random thinking space of Morgan Bell . . . These are my musings . . . things about my life written off the top of my head . . . written in an informal disjointed style almost completely devoid of punctuation, this is where i flesh out writing ideas, discuss my life, and generally be self indulgent . . . it is also the bargain bin for articles which do not fit in with the film or arts themes of my other blogs . . . so have a wander around my mind, have a laugh, have a think, be nice, and humour me!

Passion pop? Wow, big spender!

Although, Goon > Pashpop. It's urban lore.

You are such a teenager!!
Half the people I work with are younger PP slaves but while I loved it back then and have a swig with my work PP slaves I have to shamefully admit I am a total wine snob. It must be good and I must be able to detect a nice bouquet on the nose. LOL. Especially since visiting McLaren Vale in SA - I am now a wine connoisseur and spin my glass to aerate.

You'd better fuck off with you're fucking carbonated goon water! I'm sick and tired of hearing the cork dent my ceiling!

Back at uni it was 3 for 10 bucks... scary...

Although the warning: "may contain milk, eggs, fish and nuts" wasn't large enough to scare away the party goers...

It shows that students will drink anything that is alcoholic... especially if it is cheap,

hi Wilson,
good luck with the party. Passio Pop is a great party starter!

hi Jason,
i am far from a wine connoisseur, but i do admire those with trained taste-buds and nostrils . . . i think the motto with Passion Pop drinkers is more like "after the third bottle you wont taste a thing anyway" haha

hi alt_ed,
haha carbonated goon water!
i believe i opened four last night and not a single cork flew into the roof!

So it does have alcohol? I have never seen this stuff, is it Aussie?

I didn't even know this stuff was still being sold, it's been around since Moses was a boy. Bloody hell.

Nice to know that you are still a connosseiur of fine wine and food. I hope you had a chiko roll to go with it.

hi Norm,
my brain was going "swish, swish, swish" when i thought of that little gem!

hi sportsbar,
"may contain milk, eggs, fish and nuts"
i think the only thing theres no danger of it containing is wine! lol
its still only $4.50 a bottle, and you can often get a 10% discount if you buy 6 at the same time
you know youre really cheap when you start drinking casks of port or cooking sherry!

hi Anonymous,
yeah cheap is just an added bonus, its all about the sugary taste!
i will search high and low and go completely out of my way to find the lemon-lime flavour . . . heaven!

hi Waysouth,
yep its an Aussie "sparkling wine", 9.5% alc/vol, a 750ml bottle has 5.6 standard drinks
theres a website: www.passionpop.com.au

hi Cheryl,
oh yes, i am a connosseiur of all things fine!
they will never stop selling it, NEVER!!!!! haha
actually a chiko roll would hit the spot right now . . .

Embrace that inner bogan Morgan. I'm feeling a hankering for a sausage roll myself...but it's a long way too the shop if you want a sausage roll....aren't those the lyrics to the Akka Dakka song?

Passion Pop - sits right alongside Coolabah Cask wine, and Cinzano in my books as iconic bottleshop delights.

Don't let anyone ever tell you, that you aren't a connoisseur of the finer things in life.

hi Cheryl,
im glad you can appreciate my boganism!
i should really wear a ripped Akka Dakka shirt and some tight black jeans . . . *looks down* . . . oh hang on i am! (just joshin)

hi Ruby,
are we talking the My Fair Lady story?
i wonder if she was partial to a drop of Pop before her ettiquette and deportment lessons?

hi MNG,
thanks for the support!
sounds like we have alot (of drinks) in common!

Are you trying to pick up on Orble?

Comment by Morgan Bell

November 3rd 2008 14:01
hi Janet,
haha do you mean pick up MNG?
he would make a lovely catch but alas i am told theres an existing Mrs NG that may not appreciate me luring her husband with Passion Pop!
although Mrs NG may one day leave him if Hugh Laurie comes knowing at the door . . . well thats what ive read anyway!
it used to be a choice between Tom Cruise and a lamb roast, now women across Australia are deciding between Hugh Laurie and the Passion Pop!

No. I just thought you may be marketing yourself as a low maintenance woman - aka cheap date. But maybe I just missed the point.

Comment by Morgan Bell

hi Janet,
oh its not a marketing ploy, i really am a low maintenance woman, it takes very little to keep me entertained!
you can mark my application form as "single - not looking"

Janet, you'd be hard pressed finding anyone cheaper. Why Morgan's so cheap you needn't even leave the house!

Jokes aside, Morgan has probably got more going for her than sipping a Bollinger. So we can leave her poor taste in drinks aside. The fact that the whole subject of Passion Pop was worthy of investigation says something a lot deeper - don't you think?

hi Janet,
i was quite literally drinking my forth bottle of the golden drop when i wrote this post - it was just a drunken ode to my drink lol
i think i thought it was alot more magical than it really was!

Christ you've got to be stoned to put passion pop in cupcakes.....Its been many a year since I tasted the drop, but I remember her well, and join you in adoration of the cheapest champagne there is!

Comment by Morgan Bell

November 5th 2008 04:35
hi Kleo,
i love people who refer to Pop as "champagne", i do it myself on occassion, it always gets a rise out of real wine lovers!
im pretty sure, without needing a blood test, that that kid is stoned!
thanks for the comment!
