Deep Pencil - the musings of Morgan Bell

If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it did it really make a sound? If i post a blog and nobody reads it was there really any point? You have entered the random thinking space of Morgan Bell . . . These are my musings . . . things about my life written off the top of my head . . . written in an informal disjointed style almost completely devoid of punctuation, this is where i flesh out writing ideas, discuss my life, and generally be self indulgent . . . it is also the bargain bin for articles which do not fit in with the film or arts themes of my other blogs . . . so have a wander around my mind, have a laugh, have a think, be nice, and humour me!

Phyllis Stein and the laser-guided do-dads

July 8th 2008 17:08
ever since the first time i saw the film of Hedwig & The Angry Inch i have fantasized about writing the sequel . . . at one point i was very taken in by a Youtube video called Charlie The Unicorn and wondered how i could mesh the two together, another time i wondered if i could incorporate Johnny Cash into Hedwig's life somehow (mostly so they could sing a duet) . . . maybe it could be a prequel, maybe a parrallel universe?

so today i read the term "laser-guided do-dads" and was re-inspired!

what a fabulous name for a band: Phyllis Stein and the Laser-Guided Do-Dads

as we all know Phyllis Stein was Hedwigs manager and agent, perhaps she could set up a rival band who tried to sabotage Hedwig and squash her artistic ambitions?

i imagine a final scene with Hedwig as Samson, pushing her golden locks out of her heavily made-up face as she takes a knife to Phyllis Steins throat . . . raw classical defiance!

JOHNNY

if this seems random thats because . . . well because it is!

hi Ruby,
Charlie the Unicorn (my personal interpretation) is a gay cartoon accurately depicting the relationship between young twinks and their old man admirers or long suffering faghags . . . i dont know what the creators were thinking when they made it but it is uncanny how much it fits that little niche
its basically the old urban legend of the kidney heist but the young unicorns coerce poor charlie through sheer annoyance and absurdity
the amount of times they say his name "Charlie" for no real reason is hilarious on its own!

Definitely random. But who would play Phyllis?

hi Cheryl,
it was inspired by something i saw Norm say . . . it just got those creative juices flowing! haha
i would really like Phyllis to be a tranny too so im thinking some kind of a jewish dragqueen may be suited to the part?
but you are welcome to audition if we convert it to a musical or film!

Cheryl,
tap shoes could come in handy, you never know what will be required of you on the casting couch!
