Deep Pencil - the musings of Morgan Bell

If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it did it really make a sound? If i post a blog and nobody reads it was there really any point? You have entered the random thinking space of Morgan Bell . . . These are my musings . . . things about my life written off the top of my head . . . written in an informal disjointed style almost completely devoid of punctuation, this is where i flesh out writing ideas, discuss my life, and generally be self indulgent . . . it is also the bargain bin for articles which do not fit in with the film or arts themes of my other blogs . . . so have a wander around my mind, have a laugh, have a think, be nice, and humour me!

The prodigal cat returns . . .

June 29th 2009 18:39
My beautiful cat iota deville is flying up from Tasmania today.

About time. I have missed her.

She has been living with my parents for the last three months while I have been galavanting around NSW and getting all my affairs in order.

I have been eagerly awaiting her return to me. I just dont feel like a proper spinster without a cat. I dont feel like an authentic wicked witch. I dont feel nearly Faustian or Nefarious enough.

She is the Mr Bigglesworth to my Dr Evil.

The M.A.D. Cat to my Dr Claw.

The Azrael to my Gargamel.

The Salem to my Sabrina.

The Garfield to my Jon.

She has a calming effect on me. When she sits on my bed blissfully purring away I feel content and reassured. Plus she's warm in winter and I dont have a hot water bottle.

My mum has been fattening her up. Mum took this photo recently to show me how plump iota has gotten in my absence. I shudder to think what the excess freight charge is going to be . . .

Taken just before I left Tasmania, opta has a thing for window sills and peeping.

hi Jason,

well shes a sydney cat originally, a real newtown vegan lesbian haha

so the city slicker has had a short break with her country cousins and is returning to the bit smoke . . . nothing like a good cliche at this time of the morning

I told you she'd plump out didnt I? Its simply mandatory for every cat to double in size towards their fifth birthday.

Morgan,

She's beautiful. I miss my cat... he lives with my mother until I turn sixteen and get my own place... I live with my grandmother; she has a cat who hates other cats, so I can't bring mine. I miss him loads, we've been separated since the end of February.

I hope the kitty adjusts well to the change of location.

hi Kleo,

haha yes she did plump up!

must have been all that fresh country air

hi Dianna,

its awful being separated from your cat hey

i guess the one consolation is that you know they are being looked after while you are apart

iota is rubbing her face on my computer as we speak . . .

Yay! I'm so glad you got your kitty! What a precious little thing!

You know, I used to have a cat named Azrael. She was a beautiful Abyssinian and she ran away. I miss her so much! Then I had a precious baby named Caesar. Now Constantine is my sweet little baby love. I wish cats could live as long as people!

hi Dianna,

(iota says hello too *meow*)

well thats good that you get regular contact, its a bit like having a custody agreement lol supervised visits only

hi Natalina,

wow you are great at naming cats, i love every single one of those names

if i was ever in a bigger place and had more money i would love to get another cat, i would like a black male cat and i would call him Yuri

ive been thinking about it ever since i got iota, but theres been to much instability in my life lately to have multiple pets

im quite grateful my parents took such good care of her while i wasnt well and when i was looking for somewhere to live

My cat names haven't all been so creative. When I was little I had a calico named Calico. I also had a poodle named Muttley.

I've heard of flying monkeys, but flying cats?
Does your cat use a tray?
Because mine brings me breakfast in bed.
On one.

Nice to know you have a cat. I wish I could have one and yes, there's nothing like stroking a cat to calm myself after a stressful day.

So the Cat in Hat comes back . . .

But does she like Green Eggs and Ham?

I'm guessing not one Iota

Comment by Morgan Bell

hi MNG,

she has acquired a taste for smoked ham since my parents have been spoiling her . . . not sure about the green eggs though

How lovely you got her back! How did she go with the flight?

I just flew my friend's cat down to Melbourne - let's just say it was a stress filled day and she was not happy Jan. Neither of us got there without tears and injuries. Mind you all was forgiven when she saw her beloved daddy

hi Cheryl,

the flight was not too bad, she was doing a bit of meowing in the car and when i got her home she hid under the bed for awhile, but she was sitting on the bed next to me purring a kneading just a few hours later

cats really dont like to trevel do they?

i think its quite sweet when single men own cats, i think it shows they have a gentle side

Oh they have a full love affair He adores her and she loves him so much that she drools when he cuddles her. Cute but messy!

He is both strong and gentle. It is nice to see guys with cats. I don't know why people always assume cats belong with single women. They are the most independent animal you could own. Actually you don't own them, they own you!

The poor little thing doesn't even like the car so the whole trip was fraught with stress. She cut up her nose banging her face on the cage to get out. She was trying to grab hold of me through the bars so I got scratched. The airline made a mistake which had me lugging her for over a kilometre with my luggage in tow. It was back breaking.

I'm glad iota settled in quickly. She must have been very happy to see her mum.

hi Cheryl,

Actually you don't own them, they own you!

that is so true!

we are the servants of cats!

The airline made a mistake which had me lugging her for over a kilometre with my luggage in tow.

was that the mistake where Virgin Blue tells you to deliver animal freight to the passenger terminal? because they did that to me when i sent iota to Tazzy, it was really annoying, but luckily i had my car so there was no lugging involved

iota hates the car and being in a cage, even a 15 min trip has her crying uncontrollably
