Deep Pencil - the musings of Morgan Bell

If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it did it really make a sound? If i post a blog and nobody reads it was there really any point? You have entered the random thinking space of Morgan Bell . . . These are my musings . . . things about my life written off the top of my head . . . written in an informal disjointed style almost completely devoid of punctuation, this is where i flesh out writing ideas, discuss my life, and generally be self indulgent . . . it is also the bargain bin for articles which do not fit in with the film or arts themes of my other blogs . . . so have a wander around my mind, have a laugh, have a think, be nice, and humour me!

I wish I could make head or tail of these sorts of books, but my mind just draws the curtains whenever I open one. I don't know it's sort of like after being stimulated by reading great writing, these sorts of books are like going from complex tastes to a packet of digestive biscuits. Sorry, just searching for a reason why the shutters go up.

hi Norm,
yes the business end of freelance writing is certainly less than inspiring!
its where the art merges into the commercial and you start short-listing publications to pitch to . . . the only natural response is to feel like a common street hooker aimed to establish themselves as a high class escort!

I've heard of the Writers Marketplace, but not the other book.

Thanks for the tip!

hi Kylie,
i thought i might as well share the tip that was given to me . . . each of them retails for about $49 but im sure there are copies at local libraries if you are curious!

i want to unlearn english so i can relearn it and have an actual original take on life and all it's (in)glorious offerings. Do you think i can achieve this by severe concussion or should i go the chemical route

hi Timothy,
it is the curse of our generation that we are not able to have any original ideas . . . everything is tribute, homage or appropriation . . . we are so swamped with communication and culture that nothing can develop "in a vacuum" anymore
maybe amnesia quickly followed by living in a bubble in a remote location?

That sounds like a reasonable way to do it. The problem of originality has been the bain of my existence ever since i realised that all my ideas had already been thought of i just hadn't read about them. I hate reading thus my problem. This problem precludes me from solving my existential crisis that i feel like i was born into a problem which is probably reflective of our age. We have far greater awareness, it's just our attention spans which have shrunk.
