Deep Pencil - the musings of Morgan Bell

If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it did it really make a sound? If i post a blog and nobody reads it was there really any point? You have entered the random thinking space of Morgan Bell . . . These are my musings . . . things about my life written off the top of my head . . . written in an informal disjointed style almost completely devoid of punctuation, this is where i flesh out writing ideas, discuss my life, and generally be self indulgent . . . it is also the bargain bin for articles which do not fit in with the film or arts themes of my other blogs . . . so have a wander around my mind, have a laugh, have a think, be nice, and humour me!

this takes the cake . . .

My granddaughter is graduating and turning 18 in the next two weeks. We were wondering what kind of cake to make for each occasion. You solved the problem, Morgan. Thank you!!!!

This sounds uberdelicious, Morgan!!! I don't really have a sweet tooth but this even makes me crave for chocolate. Looks easy to put together, too.

What, no mostly unrobed buff bod accompanying your delicious-sounding recipe? Tsk, tsk, I'm disappointed in you, Morgan! Hehehe.

ah morgan, you tempt me to do something dangerous: cook.

You know I can't boil eggs without having them explode, either in the water or while I'm holding them. My inability to cook is astounding.

I just might kill someone in the process of making a cake -_-

In all fairness though I onlyu ever like chocolate cake anyway

hi Ahmed,
a fellow bad cook! lol
i do all the typical bad cook things, setting the toaster on fire, making clumpy rice thats still hard on the inside, and dont even talk to me about eggs haha
so the art of bakery seems magical to me, my mum combines a couple of ingredients, puts them in the oven and then out comes the most delicious cake youve ever eaten! magic i tell you!
and you can even magically make this cake chocolate!
(well maybe not you or me, but perhaps our mums)

Hi Morgan,

Nice recipe, which we too have put variations too over the years... here's a couple...

Add brown sugar or honey instead of the bleached white stuff ... try wholemeal flour, and you can substitute the butter for oil and mush in banana and lemon zest, for banana variety (a nice guy would be a good adv choice here) *chuckle* or, ... grated carrot for carrot cake varieties.

Ice with philledelphia cream chese mixed with lemon zest and icing sugar.

cooked and mushed apples are nice too, with chocolate drops added throughout.

In the one my daughter baked the other day, she melted the chocolate and swirled it through the brown sugar, oil and wholemeal flour variety, adding loads of lemon zest to both the cake and the icing ... OMG too yummy.

I'm on my way round to your place for tea and cake, okay?

Lilla ...

oh Lilla
what fabulous suggestions!
i will pass them on to the chef immediately!
or perhaps an afternoon tea at your house is in order, sounds like you guys have all the good stuff going on over there!
mmmm i do like a bit of zest, however endorsing the use of bananas in bakery or orble could prove problematic . . . best we all go rub a few phalec crytals instead
